The story’s name is Charles, and it is about what a little kid can make up. The theme is that the main character laurie had to lie for his parents to not know what he did. For example, he said there was another kid that was causing lots of trouble and that he was hitting all the girls. The thesis is that this is face as what a kid has to do so he wouldn’t get caught by his mom and wouldn’t get in trouble. To support this, I looked at the first page.
The characterization of the story is one, the main character is laurie, a boy in kindergarten. The secondary caracters are his mother and father who think of him as a sweet child who doesn’t do nothing and has grown up now. The irony of this story would be the teacher who was the person who had a connection with laurie/charles. That connection is what does both of them did to her, which is hit the teacher. The plot of the story is that in laurie’s new kindergarten class, he says that there is a new student who is so cool and that he hits everyone(or in this case he says the word fresh). The parents are very interested to see the boy charles, and for parent techer conference, they will meet him. The conflict here is man vs self. Man is laurie, he is also charles a made up character. Self would be Charles, who has to be made up so laurie wouldn’t get in trouble for what he has done in kindergarten(pg.2). Now laurie needs to be charles so now his parents wouldn’t know who is the bad kid, nor would the teacher tell on him of what the things he done. Those things were hitting classmates, punching teachers, not obeying, etc.
My opinion of the book is that laurie should have told his parents what happened and then it wouldn’t be that much of trouble, but now he is in more trouble because he has lied when he was not supposed to. The climax of this is when the parents of laurie had to go to parent teacher conference, then comes the rising action. Almost at the end of the second page, laurie’s mother said what was all the problem with charles. Then the teacher said, “ I am sorry, there isn’t no charles in this kindergarten grade.” That meant one thing, laurie is charles
